Bio

Hi, I’m a visual artist and researcher based in County Wexford, Ireland.

The influence of my formative years spent in London and during what is commonly described in Ireland as The Troubles has became a strong backdrop to my work. Contradicting Information portrayed by both the UK and Irish print and broadcast media of the time has led my interest in multiple social histories and the power structures that add to the control of our perception of events and place.

My work questions the representation and the construction of images and histories, while also focusing on the tension between text and image, between reading and visualising and in a larger sense between the fabricated and the real.

Although conceptually based, the use of photography and video enables the viewer to engage with the works on several levels, while also being accessible at face value by a wider non-art educated audience.
